What direction is best for solar to face?

North-facing solar panels will get the most sun year-round in Albany. However, if you have an east-west roof alignment, you can still harness most of the sun’s energy from dawn to dusk. There are a few other factors to consider, though, such as making sure that your panels aren’t shaded or blocked by trees or other buildings. When it comes to panel positioning, it’s also worth checking the steepness of the roof or slope where the panels will be placed to ensure your solar takes maximum advantage of the sun.

The amount of savings is based on electricity consumption only, the daily supply charge has not been factored in. The amount of savings does not factor in the costs of the system, regardless of whether it's paid upfront or on a credit contract. The amount of the annual bill savings factors in feed in tariff amounts for any kilowatt-hours exported back to the grid, it does not factor in any export limiting of the inverter. For monthly bills between $100 and $130 amounts, the annual savings amount is greater than the annual bill amount, due to feed in tariff credits for amounts exported back to the grid.

What is the $1,300 WA Battery Rebate?

The WA Residential Battery Scheme is making solar batteries more affordable for WA families. It's one of the most generous battery rebates in Australia and means you could have the battery you've always wanted, for a fraction of the cost.

Plico offers the WA Battery Rebate with all eligible installations. If you have a quote for a solar battery in WA that doesn't include the WA rebate, you could be missing out on an extra $1,300 discount!

The $387 million package includes one-off rebates of up to $1300* for Synergy customers and up to $3800* for Horizon customers. Also available are interest-free loans of up to $10,000* for households earning less than $210,000/year.

The rebate allows for a minimum battery size of 5 kWh up to 10 kWh and includes new, additional and replacement solar batteries*. The rebate is applied at $130 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for Synergy customers.

To be eligible, batteries must be connected to a Virtual Power Plant and meet Australian and local grid standards. Plico has the only independent VPP approved for the WA Battery Rebate.

What is the National Battery Rebate?

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is making solar batteries more affordable for Aussie households. The program has been so popular that the Australian Government is investing a further $5 billion and shifting the level of support so more homes can benefit. The rebate will reduce more frequently, and the allocation will be tiered based on battery size. The soon-to-be $7.2 billion program will reduce the cost of a typical solar battery by around 30 per cent*.

Here's how the rebates are being applied from May 2026:

  • First 0 kWh to 14 kWh will receive 100% of the rebate

  • Every kWh greater than 14 and up to 28 will receive 60% of the rebate

  • Every kWh greater than 28 and up to 50 will receive 15% of the rebate

These changes mean that more Aussie households can access an affordable solar battery and for longer, which is great news for clean energy!

The National Battery Rebate can be stacked with the WA Battery Rebate to help WA households save even more.

Our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) puts members first, offering higher rewards for your energy. It's low touch and no fuss, helping you earn rewards without having to lift a finger.

To access the WA Battery Rebate, batteries must be connected to an accredited Virtual Power Plant. As WA's only accredited independent VPP provider, we pay you more for your energy, so you're always better off. You receive 3x your energy costs (tariff) for energy exported from your battery to the grid during a VPP event. This is a minimum payment of 99c/kWh (unit).
