What is a Virtual Power Plant?
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is a network of household solar + battery and battery only systems, that is managed remotely to generate, store and transfer energy to and from the grid. VPPs can increase or decrease energy supply to the grid almost instantly, providing a flexible, cost-effective and clean energy solution, helping to build a more reliable energy system for the future.

How does the VPP benefit me?
When you join our Virtual Power Plant, your solar battery will work with other batteries across WA to help take pressure off the electricity grid when needed, like on days when there’s high energy demand but low supply of energy to the grid.
It works outside of your electricity plan, with your existing equipment, so there’s no installation or software required. Plus, while our VPP is running there will be no impact to your electricity supply.
What are the Financial Rewards?
You'll receive 3x your energy costs, a minimum of 94c/kWh for energy you contribute to the VPP. All without having to lift a finger! Plus, your VPP payments are paid on top of any other benefits your system offers, and any solar feed-in tariff you get when you supply energy back to the grid.

The Plico Virtual Power Plant is the longest-running VPP in WA with over 3000 members and growing rapidly. We're the most experienced VPP in the state and have been successfully providing reliable services and support to our members and the grid for over three years. Our community of solar + battery systems is like one mini power plant, providing essential services to the grid when required. And our members are loving the financial rewards they get for being involved.

Here’s a rundown of what’s included:
- Up to 3 times your energy cost (min 94c/kWh) for the energy sent to the grid from your battery during a VPP event.
- No sign up or ongoing fees.
- No lock in contract. Opt out at any time with no exit fees.

Our VPP is for everyone. You can join up if you:
- Live in WA.
- Have an Alpha ESS, Redback Technologies, Sigenergy, Tesla, Sungrow, Growatt, SAJ or many other battery systems.
- Have an operating battery system, and a reliable internet connection via ethernet or Wi-Fi .
- Aren’t already part of a Virtual Power Plant (you will have to opt out of any other VPP arrangements).
- Have an electricity plan with Synergy.
- Have a smart meter installed at your premise or agree to have one installed. Smart meters are digital interval billing meters that measure electricity consumption in a home.
