Discover Astronergy Solar Panels
Astronergy (Astro) solar panels are designed to help homeowners get more from every ray of sunshine. Combining advanced solar technology with impressive efficiency and long-term reliability, Astro panels help maximise energy production while supporting greater savings over time.
At Plico, we look beyond headline specifications and choose products that deliver real-world performance. Astro panels have been selected for their ability to generate reliable energy, perform well in Australian conditions and work seamlessly alongside our battery solutions and Virtual Power Plant.
High Performance Solar Technology
Astronergy solar panels combine advanced N-Type cell technology with excellent efficiency, durability and long-term energy production. Engineered to maximise solar generation, Astro panels are designed to capture more sunlight and convert it into usable energy, helping homeowners generate more clean power from the same roof space.
With strong low-light performance and improved energy yields across varying weather conditions, Astro panels continue generating power from early morning through to late afternoon, supporting greater self-consumption and battery charging.
Built for Australian Conditions
Australian rooftops experience some of the harshest operating conditions in the world. High temperatures, strong winds, coastal environments and intense UV exposure can all impact solar performance.
Astro panels are designed to thrive in these conditions. Their low temperature coefficient helps minimise performance losses during hot summer days, while robust construction provides excellent resistance to wind loads, corrosion and environmental wear.
Features include:
-
Advanced N-Type cell technology
-
Lower annual degradation rates
-
Strong performance in high temperatures
-
Excellent low-light generation
-
Enhanced durability and reliability
-
Long-term product and performance warranties
Whether you live in metropolitan Perth, Margaret River or regional WA, Astro solar panels are built to deliver dependable energy production year after year.
A Panel of Choice
Plico chooses Astro solar panels because they offer the ideal balance of performance, quality and value.
By combining high-efficiency solar generation with proven reliability, Astro panels help maximise solar production while supporting long-term savings for homeowners.
Here's why we choose Astro panels:
-
High-efficiency N-Type solar technology
-
Strong performance in Australian heat
-
Excellent low-light energy production
-
Low degradation for long-term output
-
Durable construction designed for Australian conditions

Great value without compromising quality
When paired with a Plico battery system and Virtual Power Plant membership, Astro panels help homeowners make the most of their solar investment.
Solar panel arrays
Find out the Aussie average
Traditionally, the most common solar panel array size was 6.6 kW, which is around 14 solar panels. As more people start to see the benefits of solar in reducing their power bills, and government incentives to install solar + battery, the average panel array grew to 10.2 kW in 2025.
With bigger batteries being installed, solar panel arrays are also growing to suit.

Astro Solar Panels
The Astro solar panels used in Plico systems are 475 watts. An average solar panel array of 6.65 kW usually consists of 14 solar panels (6.65/0.475). Your solar array can be customised to suit your roof layout, energy consumption and battery storage requirements. We carefully match your solar panels, inverter and battery system to ensure each component works together efficiently. This allows you to generate more of your own electricity, charge your battery effectively and reduce your reliance on the grid.
With WA's abundant sunshine, we usually recommend installing as many solar panels as your roof, energy consumption and budget allow. Solar panels are often installed on two strings, or two orientations on your roof (north and west-facing for example), because most modern residential inverters have two MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Trackers), allowing two separate groups of panels to operate independently. This helps maximise energy production when panels are installed in different conditions.
Every home is different, which is why we provide a personalised solar solution rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

What solar rebates are available in WA?
The solar rebates in Western Australia vary based on factors such as the size of the system you install and where you live. This impacts the number of STCs you’re eligible for (and therefore the total amount). Read this article how solar rebates work in WA to find out exactly how STCs are calculated. If you’re not up to speed on STCs then don’t worry – all STCs are handled by Plico and the credit is factored into your low weekly instalment. All you have to do is, on the day of installation, sign your STCs over to the local installer and we will do everything else from there.
In Australia, the government solar rebate is set to conclude by 2030, after which rebates will be unavailable.

Solar Panel FAQs
-
How many solar panels do I need?
The number of panels you need depends on your household energy use, roof space, battery size and energy goals. As a guide, Plico uses 475 W Jinko or Astronergy panels, so a 6.65 kW solar array is around 14 panels. We customise every quote to suit your roof and how your home uses power.
-
Do I need a battery with my solar panels?
Yes, you should add a solar battery to your solar panels if you want to get more value from the energy your panels produce. Solar panels generate most of their power during the day, while many homes use more energy in the evening and overnight. A battery stores excess solar so you can use more of your own power when you need it most. A battery is a solid investment in your energy future.
-
Will solar panels work on cloudy days?
Yes. Solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days, although output is usually lower than on bright, sunny days. High-quality panels can still capture available light, and when paired with a battery, your system can help make better use of the solar energy generated throughout the day.
-
Does my roof need to face north?
North-facing panels are ideal in Australia, but they are not the only option. East- and west-facing panels can also perform well, especially when your system is designed around your household usage patterns. Plico will assess your roof layout, shading and available space and design system tailored to your site and energy needs.

How much energy do you use? Pick the option closest to your average monthly electricity bill, or choose Actual to enter your own figure.
The amount of savings is based on electricity consumption only, the daily supply charge has not been factored in. The amount of savings does not factor in the costs of the system, regardless of whether it's paid upfront or on a credit contract. The amount of the annual bill savings factors in feed in tariff amounts for any kilowatt-hours exported back to the grid, it does not factor in any export limiting of the inverter. For monthly bills between $100 and $130 amounts, the annual savings amount is greater than the annual bill amount, due to feed in tariff credits for amounts exported back to the grid.
