This month we sat down with Outbound Sales Representative, Kim Foote. Kim has incredible interpersonal skills and a wealth of experience in communicating and selling sustainable products. She's passionate about helping others reduce their spending and their carbon footprint. Over to you, Kim...

Tell us Kim, what made you want to join Plico?

I loved the idea of Plico’s membership model, which is structured to make solar and battery affordable and accessible to everyone, not just those who have the money to purchase it outright from the beginning.
Tell us about your role.

I work in outbound sales - but no - we don’t do any ‘cold calling’, which was also another huge plus for me when I was looking at joining Plico. I don’t like people calling me out of the blue trying to sell me something I haven't asked for, so I wouldn’t be a part of that type of work myself.

My job is to connect with any new enquiries that come in. I am essentially one of the first points of contact customers have with Plico. I will have a chat to gather some initial information, so together we can help work out the next steps.
If you could tell people one thing about Plico, what would it be?

We have an open, honest and transparent approach to everything we do, including our sales and marketing teams. Which means no pushy sales tactics.
What’s your favourite thing to do during your downtime?

I’m not going to lie...I am a reality TV queen – AUS Survivor, US Survivor, The Amazing Race, I’m a Celebrity...the list goes on.
Do you have any pets?

Yes, we have a 13-year-old Golden Retriever named Jazzy who is adored by the whole family.
Where is the last place you travelled to?

Last year we finally went back to Malaysia, after honeymooning there 23 years ago.
Name someone you’d like to meet, and why (dead or alive)?

I would have loved to meet Steve Jobs. I just love that he thought outside the box and knew what we needed before we did. I mean, who ever thought we needed a phone that could also take a photo? Now most of us couldn’t live without that function.
What’s one thing you believe everyone can do to look after our planet?

I always tried to do ‘my little bit’ when it came to the environment, like recycling, using less water and not using any cleaning chemicals at home, which reduces a lot of waste. But then we got 8 kW of solar panels with a 10 kWh battery. Producing my own electricity and storing it in my battery to use when the sun goes down is next level! Our electricity bill is negligent most of the time. Even though it’s not actually me producing the energy, it makes me feel like a bit of a superhero and something I am super proud of.
