This month we sat down with Electrical Apprentice, Mitchell Martin. Mitchell has a solid background in telecommunications and is enjoying the move into solar installations. He's passionate about renewables and supporting more homes make the transition to clean energy. Over to you, Mitchell...

Tell us Mitchell, what made you want to join Plico?

Before I joined Plico, I was a Telecommunications Technician, However I've been very passionate about becoming an electrician, so when I saw the job listing for an Apprentice Electrician, I jumped at the chance to work at Plico!
Tell us about your role.

I am currently a 1st year Electrical Apprentice working in the Operations Department at Plico. I'm learning to install solar inverters, batteries and solar panels, as well as diagnosing faults and implementing solutions to service existing Plico systems.
If you could tell people one thing about Plico, what would it be?

I'd say Plico is a subscription-like way to save money on your power bill using the sun.
What’s your favourite thing to do during your downtime?

Watching a good movie with family/friends is my favourite thing to do in my downtime.
Do you have any pets?

I have a Maltese Schnauzer (maybe?) rescue dog named Barbara (funny name, I know!).
Where is the last place you travelled to?

I haven't had the pleasure of travelling very much in my life, but I plan to travel more this year as my new year's resolution.
Name someone you’d like to meet, and why (dead or alive)?

I'd like to meet my Grandpa on my father's side (R.I.P) and let him know my life is going well and ask for advice.
What’s one thing you believe everyone can do to look after our planet?

I believe reusing and recycling more things around the home instead of throwing them away is looking after the planet.
