Staff Referral Program 

Plico’s Referral Program is designed to help you, our valued team, help us, Plico , grow our Plico Community and create a greater impact at a household and local community level to help tackle climate change which impacts us all. 

As a thank you for referring your friends and family we will reward you – and them – with cash or a gift voucher equivalent, and subject to, the terms and conditions as follows.

By indicating that you wish to participate in the Referral Program as indicated in the terms and conditions, you accept and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions at all times.

Staff Referral Program May 2024 Terms & Conditions 

1. Definitions


1.1. Plico Energy, Plico, us, our, we: Starling Energy Group Pty Ltd.

1.2. Cash or a gift voucher equivalent for Staff Members: An amount equal to the column 'Existing eligible member receives' in Table 1, Clause 2.1.5, which will be paid by gift card distributed to the Existing Member’s mobile phone or a bank transfer to the Existing Member’s bank account in accordance with and subject to these terms and conditions.

1.3. Cash or a gift voucher equivalent for New Members: An amount equal to the column 'New member receives' in Table 1, Clause 2.1.5, which will be paid by gift card distributed to the New Referred Member’s mobile phone, or a bank transfer to the New Referred Member’s bank account, in accordance with and subject to these terms and conditions.

1.4. Staff Member: A person who is a) currently employed by Starling Energy Group Pty Ltd; Plico or b) a person who was employed at any time by Starling Energy Group Pty Ltd; Plico during the campaign period. 

1.5. New Member: Someone who has not previously had a Plico system installed at any property as part of the Plico Energy Project carried on by Plico.

1.6.VPPSA: a Virtual Power Plant Services Agreement made between Plico and its customers, in the form used by Plico from time to time.

1.7. You: Either or both of the Staff Member or the New Member, as the context requires.

1.8. Referred Individual: An Existing Member, who came to Plico via the Member Referral Program, received a gift voucher or equivalent deduction on additional installation costs, is prohibited from receiving a gift voucher for referring a New Member under the Member Referral Program.   

1.9. Successful Installation: Where an approved Plico Energy system has been fully installed at a New Member’s property in accordance with Plico Energy’s policies, procedures and protocols.

1.10. An Approved Plico System, eligible for Plico's referral rewards listed in Table 1, is one of the full solar + battery systems listed on the Plico Energy website (Solar Battery System Products & Pricing | Plico (plicoenergy.com.au)).

1.11. An Approved Plico System, eligible under Plico's referral rewards listed in Table 1, is one of the battery only systems listed on the Plico Energy website (Solar Battery System Products & Pricing | Plico (https://www.plicoenergy.com.au/products-pricing-battery)).

1.12. An Approved Plico System, eligible under Plico's referral rewards listed in Table 1, is one of the solar only systems listed on the Plico Energy website (Solar Only Systems Products & Pricing | Plico https://www.plicoenergy.com.au/solar-only-systems


2. Allocation

2.1. On application by a Staff Member or a New Member, Plico may give:

2.1.1. Cash or gift voucher to a Staff Member for a Successful Referral (as defined in paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3) they have made; and

2.1.2. A gift voucher to a New Member who has a Plico system installed at their designated property and who was Successfully Referred (as defined in paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3) by an Existing Member.

2.1.3. A gift voucher to a New Member who has a Plico system installed at their designated property and who was Successfully Referred (as defined in paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3) by a Referred Individual.

2.1.4. A gift voucher is prohibited to be allocated to a Referred Individual for a Successful Referral (as defined in paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3) it has made under the Staff Referral Program.

2.1.5 Cash or a gift voucher equivalent to the total amounts below:

These reward amounts are provided to Staff Members and New Members for a Successful Referral (as defined in paragraphs 2.2 and 2.3) made for a full solar + battery system, battery only or solar only system, provided as cash or a gift voucher equivalent to the amounts listed in Table 1.

2.2. A Successful Referral, where a Staff Member refers a New Member to Plico Energy, will be deemed to have occurred if the following conditions are met:

2.2.1. The New Member was referred by a Staff Member to Plico between 7 May 2024 and 30 June 2024, or the New Member contacted Plico between 7 May 2024 and 30 June 2024 and then later included the Staff Member as referrer.

2.2.2. The New Member signs a VPPSA with Plico within three months of the initial referral or contact being made with Plico;

2.2.3. The New Member satisfies Plico’s conditions, criteria and requirements for entering into and receiving services under a VPPSA, including credit checks and title-deed checks;

2.2.4. The New Member’s application relating to the installation of the Plico system is approved by the energy retailer;

2.2.5. The New Member’s application relating to the installation of the Plico system is approved by the energy network provider;

2.2.6. All conditions to the installation of a Plico system at the New Member’s designated property have been satisfied to Plico’s satisfaction; and

2.2.7. The Plico system is fully installed and is operational at the New Member’s designated property.

2.3. A referral can still be a Successful Referral if the New Member has been referred under the Staff Referral Program by a Referred Individual. The New Member will still be entitled to their gift voucher if all of the conditions set out in 2.1 and 2.2 are met, just that the Referred Individual is prohibited from receiving a gift voucher for this referral.

2.4 A referral will not be a Successful Referral if the New Member’s VPPSA is terminated prior to installation of a Plico system for any reason, including without limitation cancellation by the New Member during the cooling-off period or termination of their application due to a default by the New Member.

2.5. A referral will not be a Successful Referral if the Staff Member is no longer employed by Starling Energy Group Pty Ltd/Plico at the time the New Member's system is installed.  

2.6. A referral will not be a Successful Referral if the New Member has already been contacted by Plico or has already contacted Plico in any way before their referral.

2.7. Plico may in its sole and absolute discretion make a final determination as to whether a Successful Referral has occurred and whether or not an application for a gift voucher equivalent is to be granted to any person (and that determination is final).

2.8. Plico Energy may in its absolute discretion elect to provide an opportunity to earn additional or bonus weeks of Free Energy or additional gift voucher equivalent as part of a promotion, at the absolute discretion of the Plico team.

2.9. Plico Energy may in its absolute discretion end the Referral Program at any time and all associated offers.

2.10. These Referral Programs cannot be combined with any other promotion Plico may offer. 

3. How to refer someone


3.1. Staff Members become eligible for a gift voucher if the following conditions are met:

3.1.1. When the family and friends that the Staff Member has referred to Plico include the Staff Member’s name when signing up via the contact forms on the Plico Referral page:  https://www.plicoenergy.com.au/referral

3.1.2.  A successful referral as set out in conditions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 of Plico’s Staff Referral Program Terms & Conditions has been deemed by Plico to have occurred.

4.  Referral Methods


4.1 Below are the methods by which you can refer friends and family to Plico:

4.1.1. A physical “referral” card provided by the Staff Member to the New Member containing a link to the Staff Member’s URL to the Referral page on the Plico website. This link will automatically populate the “referrer” field on the Referral Form on the website. This link will contain a unique code that enables us to track a gift voucher back to the Staff Member.

4.1.2. A digital link to the Refer Friends and Family page received by the Staff Member from the Plico team via email, that can be forwarded or shared with prospective New Members within the referrer’s network. This can be shared by email or across the Staff Member’s social media accounts and will automatically populate the “referrer” field on the Referral Form on the website. This link will contain a unique code that enables us to track a gift voucher back to the Staff Member.

4.1.3. Word of mouth: Staff Members can simply tell friends and family to use the Staff Member’s name when the New Member completes the contact form for New Members on the Referral webpage or the Plico website. Friends or family must enter the Staff Member’s name on the form to enable us to track a gift voucher back to the Existing Member.

5. Multiple referrals by Staff Members and Multiple Plico Systems


5.1.  There is no limit on the number of New Members a Staff Member may refer to Plico.

5.2. If a Staff Member has multiple Plico systems or a New Member has installed multiple Plico systems, this offer is only valid for one system per Staff Member; and one system per New Member.

6.  How a New Member can nominate the referrer and claim Cash or a gift voucher equivalent


6.1. A New Member wishing to join the Plico community will need to complete a contact form on the Referral page of the Plico website. As a New Member, you will need to input the Staff Member’s name to nominate them as your Referrer or use the unique link provided by the Staff Member, so that you both can apply to receive the gift voucher.

7.  Handling unrecognised referrers


7.1. There may be cases where our team will not be able to recognise which Staff Member has made a possible referral. In this instance, we want to make sure you can participate in this Referral Program so our team may try to phone either party to confirm the referrer details.

7.2. An unrecognised referral will not stop the New Member’s application from being processed.

8.  How do you use your gift voucher?


8.1. If a Staff Member’s or a New Member’s application for a gift voucher is approved and allocated by Plico in accordance with these terms and conditions, the amount of the gift voucher will be sent to your mobile phone by Plico.

8.2. Plico will send the Staff Member and the New Member an email to inform you about the gift voucher as soon as practicable after the gift voucher has been sent to your mobile phone and let you know how many gift vouchers you have left, if any. 

8.3. Once the gift voucher has been applied in the manner set out above, it will have no further value. We will however continue to keep records of these gift vouchers for auditing and dispute resolution purposes.

8.4. A gift voucher is Plico’s way of saying thank you to our Staff and Members. Once the gift voucher equivalent has been transferred or distributed it is up to the New Member and Staff Member how that is spent.

8.5. Gift cards cannot be reissued if they are, for whatever reason, lost or not accessible to the Staff Member and New Member.

9. General


9.1. Plico makes no representation or guarantees that a gift voucher will be available following any referral, and Staff Members and New Members have not and should not enter into any contract in the expectation of receiving the benefit of a gift voucher, or in reliance on any representation made by anyone other than Plico.

9.2. While we understand you may want to tell your friends about the benefits of a Plico System, a Staff Member is not authorised to bind Plico in any way or make any representation or statement on behalf of Plico. You should refer any New Member to our website for details on the Plico system.

9.3. Exclusive Relationship

9.3.1. You understand and agree that you are only the User of our services and/or products (a Plico Member), and refrain from implying any other affiliation or legal relationship with us.

9.3.2. You understand and agree that you are never authorised to legally bind our company.

9.3.3. You must never create any materials that contain our branding, trademark, (part of) our corporate identity.

9.3.4. By participating in the Referral Program, you must not represent yourself in duplicate, agent or intermediary of our company.

9.4. Amendments and Cancellation

9.4.1. Plico may cancel or amend these terms and the Referral Program at any time on giving reasonable notice, in its sole discretion. We may offer and/or restrict additional incentives, benefits and programs. As a result, additional terms may apply. You agree that you are aware of those amended and additional terms. Any amended terms and conditions will be notified to all existing Members and made available on the Plico website. Cancellation of this program will not affect any gift vouchers which have been earned and not paid or distributed before termination, and these terms will continue to apply to those gift vouchers.

9.5 Privacy and Information

9.5.1. You undertake to respect the privacy rights of the people you invite to our Referral Program and direct to our website.

9.5.2. When referring other people, you must always inform them about the applicable terms and conditions and privacy policy. You must do so before they participate in the Referral Program and leave their personal information.

9.5.3. All personal information collected and processed as part of this Referral Program will be used in accordance with Plico’s Privacy Policy, available here. Under the applicable laws and regulations, Plico shall be responsible for collecting and processing such personal information.

9.6. Violations and Termination

9.6.1. In case we suspect any violations of these terms or otherwise tampering with, fraud or unreasonable use of our Referral Program, we may in our sole discretion cancel the distribution of any discount, benefit or payout.

9.6.2. If you are a current or former employee, contractor or affiliate of our company, we may restrict your participation in the Referral Program, and we may restrict or cancel your participation with immediate effect.

9.6.3. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and refrain from violating any third-party rights. These rights include any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights.

9.7. Disclaimer and Indemnification

9.7.1. We offer our Referral Program and its benefits only on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may remove, change and update the Referral Program in our sole discretion. We will never make any promises or guarantees about the content and information of our Referral Program. We disclaim our responsibility for any information that is incorrect or has errors.

9.7.2. Our Referral Program is based on our best efforts. You acknowledge and agree that we can never guarantee any benefit or result from participating in the Referral Program.

9.7.3. You will defend, indemnify and hold Plico and its affiliates harmless from and against all claims, damages, liabilities, losses, expenses and costs (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of your participation in the Referral Program.

9.8. No Correspondence, Disputes and Refunds

9.8.1. With regard to the distribution of discounts, vouchers, incentives, prizes, awards or other benefits, no correspondence will be entered into. Moreover, we shall never respond to any complaint or accept any dispute about the Referral Program, and the abovementioned benefits are provided “as is” and we never refund or exchange such benefits.

9.9. Restrictions

9.9.1. You understand and agree that you must not use referral methods that are bothersome to the recipients. Moreover, your participation in the Referral Program must not violate the applicable law, including but not limited to anti-Spam legislation, which is mass distribution of unsolicited messages. You must comply with all up-to-date “SPAM” laws. For example, emails must be created and distributed in a personal manner, and bulk email distribution is strongly discouraged. Any distribution of your referral link that could constitute unsolicited commercial email or "spam" under any applicable law or regulation is expressly prohibited and will be grounds for immediate termination of your account and exclusion from Plico's Referral Program.

9.9.2. You must not publish our Referral Program on any sites or platforms that house any Adult Content, Alcohol, Tobacco, Gambling, Games and Online Casinos, Political Content, and any form of illegal activities.

9.9.3. You must not at any time, invite or refer people who are unknown to you.

9.9.4. You must only use our Referral Program for personal use and refrain from its use for commercial purposes. 

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia.
