What is the WA Battery Rebate?
The WA Residential Battery Scheme is making solar batteries more affordable for WA families. It's one of the most generous battery rebates in Australia and means you could have the battery you've always wanted, for a fraction of the cost.
The $387 million package includes one-off rebates of up to $1300* for Synergy customers and up to $3800* for Horizon customers. There are also interest-free loans of up to $10,000* for households earning less than $210,000/year.
The rebate allows for a minimum battery size of 5 kWh up to 10 kWh and includes new, additional and replacement solar batteries*. The rebate will be applied at $130 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for Synergy customers.
To be eligible, batteries must be connected to a Virtual Power Plant and meet Australian and local grid standards. Plico has the only independent VPP approved for the WA rebate.

What is the National Battery Rebate?
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program has helped supercharge the uptake of solar batteries across Australia. The program has been so popular that the Australian Government invested an additional $5 billion and shifted the level of support so more homes can benefit. The rebate reduces every six months and the allocation is tiered based on battery size. The $7.2 billion program reduces the cost of a typical solar battery by around 30 per cent*.
Here's how the rebates are being applied from May 2026:

First 0 kWh to 14 kWh will receive 100% of the rebate

Every kWh greater than 14 and up to 28 will receive 60% of the rebate

Every kWh greater than 28 and up to 50 will receive 15% of the rebate
