Join WA's only independent VPP!
To access the WA Battery Rebate, batteries must be connected to an accredited Virtual Power Plant. As WA's only accredited independent VPP provider, we pay you more for your energy, so you're always better off. You receive 3x your energy costs (tariff) for energy exported from your battery to the grid during a VPP event. This is a minimum payment of 97c/kWh (unit).

Our VPP will send excess energy from your battery to the grid when it's needed most; to prevent blackouts and grid emergencies. This won't happen often, but when it does, you'll know that you are contributing to something bigger.

The Residential Battery Scheme aims to make solar batteries more affordable for WA families. It's set to be the most generous battery rebate in Australia and means you could have the battery you've always wanted, for a fraction of the cost.
The $387 million package includes one-off rebates of up to $1,300* for Synergy customers and up to $3,800* for Horizon customers. There are also means-tested interest-free loans of up to $10,000* for households earning less than $210,000/year.
The rebate allows for a minimum battery size of 5 kWh up to 10 kWh and includes new, additional and replacement solar batteries*. The rebate will be applied at $130 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for Synergy customers.
To be eligible, batteries must be connected to a Virtual Power Plant and meet Australian and local grid standards. Plico has the only independent VPP approved for the WA rebate.
What is the National Battery Rebate?
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is making solar batteries more affordable for Aussie households. The program has been so popular that the Australian Government is investing a further $5 billion and shifting the level of support so more homes can benefit. The rebate will reduce more frequently, and the allocation will be tiered based on battery size. The soon-to-be $7.2 billion program will reduce the cost of a typical solar battery by around 30 per cent*.
Here's how the rebates will be applied from May 2026:
First 0 kWh to 14 kWh will receive 100% of the rebate
Every kWh greater than 14 and up to 28 will receive 60% of the rebate
Every kWh greater than 28 and up to 50 will receive 15% of the rebate
These changes mean that more Aussie households can access an affordable solar battery and for longer, which is great news for clean energy!

What solar rebates are available in WA?
The solar rebates in Western Australia vary based on factors such as the size of the system you install and where you live. This impacts the number of STCs you’re eligible for (and therefore the total amount). Read this article how solar rebates work in WAto find out exactly how STCs are calculated. If you’re not up to speed on STCs then don’t worry – all STCs are handled by Plico and the credit is factored into your low weekly instalment. All you have to do is, on the day of installation, sign your STCs over to the local installer and we will do everything else from there.
In Australia, the government solar rebate is set to conclude by 2030, after which rebates will be unavailable.

How to calculate your MONTHLY electricity bill?
To instantly calculate your potential solar savings, simply input your MONTHLY electricity bill below (remember, bills often appear in two monthly instalments, so make sure you’re only entering the monthly amount.) Potential savings are calculated inclusive of the Plico weekly instalments.
